This broad definition is somewhat impersonal and makes it difficult to capture the emotion of betrayal as most Americans wouldn't betray their country.

However, betrayal on an interpersonal level is far more common. In fact, for the insidious sting of betrayal to become a real emotion, it most be delivered by the hand of a trusted colleague. To understand the treachery of betrayal, to feel its soul piercing dagger, to experience its agonizing touch, the betrayer must be someone you trust implicitly.

The betrayer must be a life long friend with whom you've shared many intimate confidences. The betrayer must be a beloved husband/wife, the kind of partner that you wouldn't hesitate to give your life for as these persons are few. The betrayer has to be a mom or a dad, a brother or a sister, an aunt or an uncle, or perhaps a first cousin. The betrayer, no matter the relationship, must be someone that you would never ever think of if asked, "who do you think would do something like this to you?"

And so you think of all the people who could possible do the unthinkable and the betrayers name never even enters your mind, which makes the revelation of it and the destruction it does to your heart incalculable. The devastation one feels when finally accepting the truth of betrayal cannot be measured.

What then do we say about the betrayers? Our trusted allies? Our most intimate friends and relatives? I don't know for there are no words that can rescue the soul; there is no salve, no band aid for the wound as the true betrayer has opened up the carotid artery. There is no lasik eye surgery that will ever correct the vision you once had of the trusted person, who betrays our confidences. All we can do is stop being betrayers ourselves and be the loyal friends, relatives, and colleagues we want everyone else to be.

Telling the Truth has its CONSEQUENCES

Everybody hates to be lied to. In fact, we love to regal friends and relatives with tales told by magnificent liars. We laugh ourselves silly about this.

But what of the truth tellers? How do they fare in a hypocritical society? Their tales are not nearly as funny because when the truth comes to the surface people lose jobs, relationships dissolve, arguments erupt, fisticuffs occur, and murder results. All of this over the truth we claim we want to hear.

Perhaps we want to hear the truth; perhaps we love the truth. Deep down we want the unadulterated truth to come out about the government and all of it's corrupt agencies. We want the truth about the police and their corrupt practices. We want the truth about the Republican & Democratic Parties and their hypocrisy. We want the truth about the rich people who live in multimillion dollar mansions and their twisted means of acquiring the wealth they enjoy. And by the way, didn't he rape that girl? We want the truth about how Sophia got promoted; everybody knows she's bangin' the boss, right? We want the truth about who's having an affair on the job and who got caught in the parking lot giving a blow job.

But we don't want to know the truth about ourselves, do we? No, no, no, no! And we most certainly don't want to know the truth about the children we've bore or sired. After all, our children are a reflection of us, are they not? And being a reflection of us, they magnify our shortcomings, don't they? The actions of our children say much about us as parents. I mean, don't we love to take the credit for little Johnnie's accomplishments? When our daughters place a violin under their chins and play their first solo at a school concert, don't we swell with pride? We say to anyone who'll listen, "She gets her musical inclinations from me. I used to play in the band. Did I ever tell you that?"

But what about when our daughters become whores? Or worse yet, depending on how you look at it, become prostitutes? Who takes the credit for that? What's the truth? What about the son that has a prison cell reserved for him because they know he's coming back. After all, he's been in and out of prison cells for the better part of his life. Who takes the credit for that? What's the truth?

If we love the truth so much, why are the consequences of telling the truth so dire? Why do people get fired from high paying jobs and rarely find the same kind of jobs in the marketplace even though they are the very best at what they do? Why do students, teachers, police officers, executives, and yes, even members of the clergy, use the same words as criminals when describing a truth teller? Isn't the truth teller called a rat?! And isn't "rat " a Mafia term? Yet the good American uses this term to describe the person who tells the truth on corporate America?

What's going on? What are we thinking? Shouldn't the truth tellers be applauded? I mean isn't it easier to lie? Isn't it much easier to refuse to tell the truth, knowing you're going to hurt someone's feelings or lose your job? Aren't the truth tellers the real modern day heroes? Why aren't these people celebrated? And if we don't celebrate them, who will tell the truth? It makes more sense to be quiet; to shut up; to be evasive; to flat out lie, doesn't it? Because if you tell the truth, you could lose everything, could you not? The bottom line is, there isn't a market for truth, is there? And with no market for truth, we all become liars. Only the brave (fools) tell the truth. The rest are cowards (wise). Which one are you?

Commitment

The desire to be SUCCESSFUL requires more than wanting to be. Wade decision, where one doctor claims to have performed 20, 000 abortions at an average of cost of $500.00 per. So, I’m in my hotel room in Downtown Cincinnati. It’s 4 AM eastern and I’m watching the O’Reilly Factor. O’Reilly had a guest on who said his organization had over 900 taped conversations between Planned Parenthood and other organizations and young girls, who called in for abortions. One transcript conversation was of a Planned Parenthood woman and a 13 year old girl, who had already acknowledged that she was impregnated by a 22 year old man. The woman told the girl she had just described a crime and if the kid told her anymore, she would have to call the police. The woman tells the girl to call back and don’t mention anything about the man and his age.

First off, isn’t the Planned Parenthood woman morally (if not legally) obligated to do something about the rape of this 13-year-old? Isn’t that the crime she was referring to? And as a woman, where is the sympathy for this kid who found herself in a tragic situation? At a time when young girls are being snatched and violently raped and murdered, why wasn’t this woman outraged? Perhaps she was just following the script she was given by her employer. Maybe the woman was afraid of being fired if she expressed her personal feelings, assuming she had some, if she said anything more than what her employers told her to say.

Second, if the employers have an expressed mandate that all employees taking the above calls, perform as the woman did, I have to ask why? Why aren’t the employers outraged? Why would they tell the women who answer the phones to tell young girls not to divulge criminal activity? Is it because they don’t want these despicable rapists to go to jail? I seriously doubt it, because, see, if the 13 year old girl was their daughter, guess what folks, the man would be going to jail, quick, fast, and in a hurry. So why then do these abortionists want to hide the fact that this 13-year-old girl was raped from the police?

Do I have to say it folks? THE MONEY! God forbid the abortionist does the right thing and tells the police what happened to this girl. If they do, they might lose the sale. Sounds like a callus thing to say, doesn’t it? Question: If what I said about this is callus, how much more are the actions, or better still, inaction of the woman at Planned Parenthood. Is this what we’ve come to? Have we become so jacked up in our thinking that we don’t care about the rape of a 13-year-old girl? And by the way, does this girl need counseling? And isn’t counseling a part of what Planned Parenthood provides?

I don’t believe for a nanosecond that the historic Supreme Court decision wanted this to happen. Interesting, huh? She probably won't do a day behind bars, but this conviction makes her a reputable source for Fox News.

Listen, if former LAPD Detective Mark Fuhrman is reputable, and consulted by Fox News on police matters, shouldn't they consult Lil' Kim whenever there's trouble in the Rap World? Are Americans Now Guilty Until Proven Innocent?

Comedian Bill Cosby has been slapped with a Civil Suit for allegedly drugging and molesting a Canadian woman. Prosecutors says there's insufficient evidence to pursue the case, yet there is a civil suit? Assuming Cosby is guilty for a moment, shouldn't the accusations have to be proved in a criminal court before awarding damages to alleged victims? If not, this thing will get way out of control.

As I said in an earlier blog, extortion is a viable avenue to riches because the accused has much to lose, while the alleged victim has very little to lose. Their names and faces are not plastered all over the TV screen. And if they lose the case, we never hear from them again. But the accused always has a cloud over his head and people wonder if he in fact committed the crime. This is why extortion works so well. Why risk the media exposure and hurt your family and career. I'm talkin' million dollar endorsement deals people. Just pay the women off and be done with it, they probably deduce. Their attorneys probably advise them to do this too. That way no one knows you were ever accused. Brilliant, huh? And profitable. By the way, who are the attorneys brokering these cases/deals? Are they the same ones? Are they affiliated in any way? Just curious.

The first time I heard of filing a civil suit after the accused was found not guilty was April 29, 1992, when four police officers were acquitted of the Rodney King beating. The four cops were sued for violating King's civil rights. Now, I thought the cops were guilty as sin, but the jury declared them not guilty. Fair or unfair, I knew and noised it abroad to much booing and hissing, that this civil suit is wrong. I felt at that time, the cops had to answer to God for their crime. Now look where we are 13 years later. Where will it end? I don't believe it will; not as long as there are millionaires who put themselves in compromising situations.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://undressingthecrowd.blogspot.com/2005/03/uhm-are-americans-now-guilty-until.html' title='Uhm . . . But I was a bit disturbed by the second half of the conference, which featured notable black charismatic intellectuals, and religious leaders including Michael Eric Dyson, Louis Farrakhan, Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, and a host of others. With the exception of Farrakhan, I didn’t hear much worth listening to. Of course I didn’t see the entire 7 hour CSPAN broadcast, but much of what I saw was a lot of complaining and few if any solutions.

Conspicuously missing were other outspoken blacks who have a different take on politics and the State of the Black Union; people like Jesse Lee Peterson, author of Scam: How The Black Leadership Exploits Black America. Other notable blacks missing in action were columnist and entrepreneur Armstrong Williams, Star Parker, president of CURE, George Mason University Economist, Walter Williams, Bill Cosby, Thomas Sowell, Harvard graduate and former professor of Cornell, Rutgers, Amherst, and Brandeis Universities. It would have been nice to see entrepreneur Ervin "Magic" Johnson, and a host of Black CEOs who head fortune 500 companies.

Perhaps the moderator, Tavis Smiley, asked all those who were missing in action to attend this most important conference and for a variety of reasons, these people were not able to attend. Nevertheless, I would think those that were missing would have wanted to be there; especially Bill Cosby, who definitely would have had a different take, based on what he’s said in recent months.

Perhaps having an opposing point of view would have caused too much of an uproar. I wonder about this because when I speak to other blacks about the political arena, the state of affairs in the black community, sexual issues, et cetera, I’m often attacked for having a different opinion other than the status quo. Perhaps this is what’s missing in the black community; a different opinion and a different road to accomplishing true success in academics, business, and entertainment.

One could argue that blacks have reached the pinnacle in sports and entertainment, especially since four blacks won Oscars in the last four years. But I contend that black folk will have arrived when blacks own and pay others—when blacks become green-lighters in Hollywood—when blacks own banks to bank roll whatever projects they choose.

I’m sure there are some green-lighters in Hollywood and there is at least one black owner of a NBA franchise. All of this is good, but it’s just a start. Maybe the blacks that were missing in action could get together (assuming they haven’t) and plan to attend next year’s State of the Black Union Conference. Because if someone brings up raising minimum wage again at next year’s conference, perhaps someone will say, "Why are we talking about minimum wages? That’s for high school and college students. A grown up will have a difficult time living on that measly amount and probably work much harder for it." That would open up the discussion for the business people who’ve made it to tell young blacks that they should be aspiring to far more than minimum wage. Young blacks should be told about entrepreneurship and other opportunities America offers—not the raising of minimum wage.

So You Thought You Had A Free Ride, Huh?

I was listening to the radio a few minutes ago and I heard that a lot of men are no longer joining the military because of the war in Iraq. They say they don't believe in the war and that they are being pulled out of college ROTC programs to serve in the Gulf.

Hold up! Did you or did you not join the military, knowing full well that if a war broke out, you were in for the duration? Perhaps things have changed since I joined two decades ago, but I knew when I signed my contract that if another country decided to mess with these United States, we were going to have to kick some ass.

Did I join the military to kill or be killed. NO! I wanted to take advantage of the opportunities presented. I wasn't a hero, but, I knew going in I was putting my life on the line. Do the recruits of today understand that they are risking their lives by signing on the dotted line? No one explain that to them? Perhaps they don't know that the purpose of the military is to kill people and destroy equipment by any means necessary.

When you join the military, guess what, it doesn't matter if you agree with the war America's fighting. You don't have that option. The military is a dictatorship! When you sign your name on the dotted line, the military agrees to feed, cloth, and train its recruits to fight wars. They offer you the opportunity to travel to exotic places. They even pay for college! But all of this is at a cost. Your life, folks. YOUR LIFE. And don't tell me these guys and gals didn't know this going in. And if they didn't, shame on them for being so incredibly stupid.

Well, it's an unjust war I hear some of you screaming. SO WHAT! Unjust wars are for civilians to protest. That means you and me folks. We can protest this war if we want. Not recruits. They forfeited the right to protest wars the moment they signed the contract to serve in the United States Military. When they get out they can protest all they want. They can say that their former Commander in Chief, George W. Bush, lied to them about Weapons of Mass Destruction the moment they separate from the service (I know this wasn't the only reason for going over there). But until that glorious day, it is their duty to serve the President. This is what they AGREED to do folks.

Next time you want a free education, don't join the military! Achievement is doing what you want to do within the bounds of the law. It is the pursuit of dreams. It is liberty from the chains of fear and unbelief. It is recognition of what makes you unique and what you have to offer others. It is the realization, the substance, and the tangibility of a dream fulfilled. However, it is important to know that accomplishing your goals is done through the fire of your Will.

Without a strong desire/Will, you will not believe. Therefore, you will not achieve. Yes, you will want to achieve, but there’s much more to achievement than simply wanting to. Achievement requires drive and, in many cases, single-mindedness. Once you’ve truly made up your mind, once you have a vision of where you’re going and how you’re going to get there, you must speak and act as if it is already done. In spite of what you see, in spite of what you hear, you must continue to speak and then act on your vision. Why? Because we believe what we hear. And we act on what we believe. Fear and unbelief are the main ingredients of failure. They reveal the internal struggle that causes so many to quit before they see the fruit of their labor and experience the joy of accomplishment.

The above is a portion of the Fulfill Your Dreams article. Is this still against the law? When the Mafia did this, a new law was created. REMEMBER RICO--Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act? ESPN NEWS reports that Kobe Bean Bryant has reach an agreement with his unknown accuser. First off, I offer no excuses for what Kobe did with the woman. He shouldn’t have put himself in that position to begin with and I think he would agree. Nevertheless, am I the only person shaking his head on this one? Since when does a judge allow the victim’s sexual history in on a rape case? Answer. Since they found out the woman had sex with two other men. This is a bombshell and both the judge and the defense knew it—case dropped.

I’ve got a few questions folks. So what she had sex with not one but two other men besides Kobe? What’s the big deal? I mean this is the age of free sex, isn’t it? Can’t a woman have sex with three different men in a twenty-four hour period if she wants? Don’t men do this? Can’t a woman still be raped even if she was a part of a gang-bang? The moment she wants to stop the train from entering her station, all she has to do is say no, right? There could have been 100 guys in line, and 99 could have gotten their rocks off. If she tells the 100th guy, no, and he says, “hold up, I’ve been waiting 3 hours for this, I’m getting a piece”, and enters her station against her will, is this not rape? Why yes. I do believe it is. The 100th guy will do significant prison time, which brings me to my point. If Kobe Bean Bryant is a regular Joe, and the rape case is dropped as was done in this case, there would in all likelihood be no civil case, right? Why is there one now? MONEY. Or better still, EXTORTION MONEY. Serious extortion money too—no doubt. Here’s the problem folks: If you’re famous and a woman accuses you of this terrible crime, she can now drop the criminal case and avoid a blistering cross-examination (Why don't you change panties as often as you change men?) and still get paid. This is a very bad precedent to set. On the other hand, maybe paying her off is best for both parties. She can live an extraordinary lifestyle on Kobe’s millions. And Bryant can breathe a much-needed sigh of relief. Prison, had he been convicted, would have been a tough row to hoe. Don't you love American Justice? I do.

Hey Guys! Get A Younger Pope This Time!

Is it me or does it appear that the Catholic Church intentionally choses Popes that have one foot in the grave? Perhaps someone can help me understand the thinking of choosing men to run the Catholic Church who are too old to be in the position. I know the Church wants a man of experience and experience comes with age. But when this Pope dies, maybe they should chose a man who's in his late fifties or early sixties. Or at least demand a physical before saying, "Habemus papam" -- "We have a pope."

Why are the Cardinals choosing men approaching the century mark in age? Do the powers that be want a decrepit old man to ensure that no Pope can be in power more than 5 or 10 years? If so, why? The Pope is a lifetime position so why not get a younger Pope this time? The criterion would be the same, would it not? Perhaps the older Cardinals don't want to answer to a younger more vibrant man. When Jesus taught in the Temple, the Pharisees told him he was too young to teach them (That's a paraphrase so don't bother sending me email to correct me).

Rule amendments are nothing new in the Pope selection process. For example, the first Pope was chosen in the year 67 by the local Clergy. By 1059 Pope Nicholas II amended the rules, stating that all electors must be Cardinals. Then in 1179 Pope Alexander III amended the rules yet again, giving all Cardinals an equal vote. In 1274, Pope Gregory X added that a new Pope had to be chosen within 10 days of a Pope's death. As the years passed, more amendments were made.

Perhaps its time to amend the rules again.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://undressingthecrowd.blogspot.com/2005/02/hey-guys-get-younger-pope-this-time.html' title='Hey Guys! Almost

Hillary Swank, upon winning her second Best Actress award, told the planet about her humble beginnings of having been reared in a trailer park. Later, Oprah further elaborated on her incredible story, saying that Ms. Swank lived in her car while she pursued her career, going to the library to find the names of agents who might consider her as a client. Most of the time, an adoring public thinks it all came easy, that no hard work, or trying times were ever a part of the process of becoming a success. Swank paid her dues and is now reaping the rewards. Good for her.

And in keeping with that, motion picture veteran Morgan Freeman finally got some love too. Freeman could have easily won for Driving Ms. Daisy, beautifully portrayed by Jessica Tandy. Or Freeman could have won for Glory and The Shawshank Redemption. But last night, he was a winner for Million Dollar Baby. It's about time!

Poor Martin Scorsese. Last night should have been his night, but it wasn't. Clint Eastwood, now a three time Oscar winner, bested him. I've been a huge fan of Eastwood for years, but in 1992, when he won for Unforgiven, I thought the Oscar should have gone to Spike Lee for Malcolm X. Hollywood has a knack for giving Oscars to people for past work. And since Eastwood was awarded the coveted Oscar in 1992, I was pulling for Scorsese.

At least Jamie Foxx got his when he deserved it.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://undressingthecrowd.blogspot.com/2005/02/finally-justice-at-oscars-almost.html' title='Finally Justice at the Oscars . . . Mrs. Turner, like Mary Kay Letourneau, who had two children by her young lover (the boy was 12-year-old when the sex began), are the tip of a very large iceberg. Think Titanic folks. And do consider this: if the abused learns to abuse, which has been widely espoused, imagine the horror of the pyramid prism of sexual abuse with just one abused male at the top. If that male abuses five victims, and each victim abuses five victims, the numbers boggle the mind.

It's important to point out that boys don't typically report the crime. Usually, someone finds out and tells the authorities. With that in mind, imagine just how much of this is going on. What's worse is that society is too short sighted to see that winking at this is a major contributing factor to my pyramid theory.

Tolerating female perpetrators eventually affects all of society. Sadly, the consequences of premature sex has yet to be calculated where young boys are concerned. When they become the abusers, when they kidnap our little girls and sexually abuse them, when they brutally rape and murder our little girls, only then are we outraged. But it's too late then. We need to do something now, before another potential predator is sexually abused.

My article about female pedophilia was published nearly three years ago in Insight Magazine.
